There was no reason for this election at all. The incumbent was a Congress MLA who switched over to the BJP, TRS says because he was promised a ₹18000 Crs contract. Neither the BJP or the TRS are holding back on the money. The price of a single vote is over ₹5000. Many voters take money from all sides and vote for the old reasons. The Congress which traditionally held this seat is hamstrung with not enough money to spend. The complete inaction of the Election Commission of India is testimony to how constitutional safeguards to protect democracy have collapsed in India.?
