Why is Hyderabad the most suited for a second capital of India?

Dr Imad Khan Ruman

Hyderabad is not at all suitable for second or first capital of India

Just because of some reasons quoated by fellows Quorans

  1. Geographical advantage: Hyderabad is located at a very good (if not perfect like Nagpur) East-West and North-South intersection. That makes it a very accessible destination to reach for people. It enjoys least seismic vulnerability with substantial rainfall making it a very sustainable city, it’s also risk free cities in terms of Floods , tsunami , thoofans
  2. THE Cultural advantage: While Delhi is the first point of such beautiful Indo-Islamic cultural contact, Hyderabad is the only next city to receive it to such heights in the history. The architectural legacy and splendour of Deccan Sultanates is unique in its own way and what they have left behind is still refreshing to this day. Charminar, Golconda fort, Birla temple, Salarjung museum, Macca masjid, Falaknuma palace are only a few of the many beauties in Hyderabad's nest. Admire the amalgamation-Urdu ghazals followed by Kuchipudi at Ravindra Bharathi, a sip of Irani chai, a dip of Osmania biscuits, noon delight with Hyderabadi Biryani, Rumaali roti, finish off with Double kameeta, Dry-fruit salads, Faludha, go shop some pearls and perfumes and then boat at Hussain sagar. Hey!don't miss sunsets at Lumbini park. There are wonders unfurling at every corner to make you say 'Aadhaab Hyderabad’.
  3. Linguistic epicenter: Telugu, Urdu, Hindi (you will find it really funny - the Hyderabadi style) are widely spoken here. This city boasts such first big contact of Hindi with a Dravidian language and culture ever. So South Indians will finally feel it like a capital that they really own and represent.
  4. Pleasant climate: Being situated on an elevated basalt platform of Deccan plateau, it is extremely rare that you find sweat on your body in this heart of Deccan city. Very less humidity combined with good green-cover makes it one of the most liveable Indian cities. Hyderabad has a better air quality than most other Indian cities. So it is now housing more than 15 million population at convenience. It is the winter resort of his highness The President of India.
  5. Connectivity: Though Hyderabad is a very prominent destination from centuries ago, IT revolution has added a different infra flavour to the city. It is called as 'Hi-tech city' or 'Cyber city' for this very reason. With its entry, IT brought a very different metro culture to Hyderabad. The nightlife here is one of its kind. So with them came the super fly-overs, subways, skyscrapers, outer ring roads, inner ring roads, local urban rail transportation and now metro trains. Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) and Begumpet airport will have flights kissing the tarmac and leaving all round the clock. Secunderabad, Kachiguda, Hyderabad Deccan train stations are the busiest with trains leaving to and coming from other external destinations. South Central Railway gets its lion share of wealth from just this city. Most of the national highways cut through the city. So it is extremely well connected by any standards.
  6. Strategic importance: Army and Air force have strategic bases here. Most of the Indian missile program goes in only Hyderabad. IPS training institute, Railway officer's institute etc are located at Hyderabad.
  7. Pioneer of edu & allied organisations: Osmania University, Hyderabad Central University, Maulana Azad Urdu University, IIT Hyderabad, IIIT Hyderabad, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, BITS-Hyderabad, R&D biggies like NRSA of ISRO, various DRDO labs, ICRISAT, NGRI, NIN, CCMB, L.V.Prasad Eye Institute etc are located. Even the tech-giant Google has its ambitious campus only at Hyderabad after US and Seoul, South Korea. It is the city of bustling startups and entrepreneurs and can be called the 'Silicon valley of India' (though it lost that crown to Bangalore narrowly). Bill Gates, Ivanka Trump are the few dignitaries who came in the recent past to appreciate the opportunities they can explore here.
  8. Sea of opportunities: Though Hyderabad doesn't have a natural sea in real sense, it still is a sea or let us call an ocean of opportunities. Cheap availability of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled labour is a boost for industries. Software, Hardware, Pharma, Cotton textile, food processing, metal industries are very well developed here. Many PSUs are located here. New sectors like animation, gaming finds Hyderabad as its hub. Film industry is of special mention. Ramoji film city is the largest of its kind facility in the world (even bigger than Hollywood,CA). Most of the B-town,T-town films are made here. Bahubali, a visual grandeur has most part of it shot here. Visual effects studios like Makuta VFX, Pixelloid serves the film real amazing. Annapurna studios, Ramanaidu studios, Prasads digi color lab are few of the very reputed institutions. Allied sectors like drama, theater, film schools are richly developed making it a city of dreams for young aspiring talents. Fashion industry is also booming in Hyderabad. NIFT, Brisah do considerable work in this area.
  9. The urban touch: Hyderabad has numerous pubs, discotheques, theme restaurants, spas, amusement parks, golf parks, multiplexes, fine art galleries, horse racing courses, shooting ranges etc. Nehru Zoological Park here is a worthy watch.Other such natural attractions are Mahavir Harina Vanasthali national park,Mrugavani national park and Kasu Brahmananda Reddy national park. Shopping giants like Inorbit Mall, Manjeera Mall, Hyderabad Central, Shopper's Stop,GVK One, Trinity etc gives a resonating urban feel. Star hotels like ITC Grand Kakatiya, Park Hyatt,Taj Krishna Oberoi, Taj Falaknuma, Novotel,Marriot are very convenient to accommodate international delegates. Lifesize multiplex experiences at Prasad's IMAX 4K, Cineplanet etc. Wonderla, Snow world, Jal vihar are best amusement ideas. Hyderabad is the food capital of India if it is or not the nation's second capital. So though the McDonalds, Burger King, Pizza hut, KFC, Subway has occupied the city everywhere, you can't miss Hyderabadi Haleem at Pista house, Cold chats at Gokul Chat or its biryani at Bawarchi(there are over 200 restaurants with this name but try it at RTC X roads) or Paradise.Apollo Chicken is a Hyderabadi delight for the non-veg lovers. Old city local street fish grills are better than any 5 star barbecue. International or intercontinental food choices are open at WOK republic (Japanese), Mainland China (Chinese) etc. There are ample Italian, Arabian food courts at nooks and corners of Hyderabad.

So it is the clear frontrunner for a second capital idea.

i invite you to put your opinion on my comments in comment section

Helen Mirren once said: Before you argue with someone, ask yourself.......

Helen Mirren once said: Before you argue with someone, ask yourself, is that person even mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective. Because if not, there's absolutely no point. Not every argument is worth your energy. Sometimes, no matter how clearly you express yourself, the other person isn’t listening to understand—they’re listening to react. They’re stuck in their own perspective, unwilling to consider another viewpoint, and engaging with them only drains you. There’s a difference between a healthy discussion and a pointless debate. A conversation with someone who is open-minded, who values growth and understanding, can be enlightening—even if you don’t agree. But trying to reason with someone who refuses to see beyond their own beliefs? That’s like talking to a wall. No matter how much logic or truth you present, they will twist, deflect, or dismiss your words, not because you’re wrong, but because they’re unwilling to see another side. Maturity is...

The battle against caste: Phule and Periyar's indomitable legacy

In the annals of India's social reform, two luminaries stand preeminent: Jotirao Phule and E.V. Ramasamy, colloquially known as Periyar. Their endeavours, ensconced in the 19th and 20th centuries, continue to sculpt the contemporary struggle against the entrenched caste system. Phule's educational renaissance Phule, born in 1827, was an intellectual vanguard who perceived education as the ultimate equaliser. He inaugurated the inaugural school for girls from lower castes in Pune, subverting the Brahminical hegemony that had long monopolized erudition. His Satyashodhak Samaj endeavoured to obliterate caste hierarchies through radical social reform. His magnum opus, "Gulamgiri" (Slavery), delineated poignant parallels between India's caste system and the subjugation of African-Americans, igniting a discourse on caste as an apparatus of servitude. Periyar's rationalist odyssey Periyar, born in 1879, assumed the mantle of social reform through the Dravidian moveme...

India needs a Second National Capital

Metta Ramarao, IRS (VRS) India needs a Second National Capital till a green field New National Capital is built in the geographical centre of India. Dr B R Ambedkar in his book "Thoughts on Linguistic States" published in 1955 has written a full Chaper on "Second Capital for India" While discussing at length justfying the need to go for a second capital has clearly preferred Hyderabad over Kolkata and Mumbai. He did not consider Nagpur. Main reason he brought out in his book is the need to bridge north and south of the country. He recommended Hyderabad as second capital of India. Why we should consider Dr Ambedkar's recommendation: Delhi was central to British India. After partition, Delhi is situated at one corner of India. People from South find it daunting to visit due to distance, weather, language, culture, etc. If Hyderabad is made second capital, it will embrace all southern states. People of South India can come for work easily. Further, if Supreme Court...
