DOVAL JUST DIDNT KNOW BETTER, IT WAS HIS PLAN ALL ALONG

Mohan Guruswamy
Those of us who know Ajit Doval, Modi’s NSA, know that he wears his bloodymindedness on his sleeves. He has always been boastful about being an “operational” man and sneers at “analysis ke log”. He even has a largely concocted hagiography about long years spent underground in an enemy country to buttress his credentials as a dangerous man!

How good an “operational” man he is can be determined when he was caught en flagrante by the local police with a Bombay contract killer called Vicky Malhotra in New Delhi’s Hyatt Hotel. The tipoff was from the Bombay Police and the recent public spat with former Bombay police commissioner, Meeran Borwankar was because he still holds her responsible for outing him.

I am not per se opposed to “terminating with extreme prejudice” enemies of the country overseas as long as there is a duly vetted process. All major countries do this and follow this process. Osama bin Laden was killed by US commandos operating with a presidential authorisation. But our hero has no time for such niceties and legality. He is impressed by the supposed Mossad method of clandestinely executing in foreign lands. Seeing too much of “Munich” is bad for public morality. Even in that movie there is a little bit about the Israeli PM giving the go ahead. So question is did Modi give the operations a nod? If so we must do it well. Getting caught is proof of incompetence.

Assassination has come a long way since the days the old man on the mountain sent his drug crazed “hashasheen” to kill enemies of the faith. In the modern age we all leave electronic trails and operational skills are far more sophisticated than hiring a two bit killer to kill enemies of the state. That is why the former Soviet KGB used to retain the services of chess grandmasters to plan operations. But then Doval has little time for planning and analysis. Thus he often ends up like an Inspector Clouseau with a silenced pistol.

“US ‘working with India’ to probe report on Pannun

The U.S. expects “accountability” and is raising concerns over the Pannun case with New Delhi regularly, said the State Department, responding for the first time to the latest details reported by TheWashington Post this week. Both the White House and the State department have responded to the report, that named an Indian intelligence official for allegedly ordering the assassination of a Khalistani activist in New York in June 2023, and also claimed that U.S. authorities believe that the R&AW chief and National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval were aware of the plot.”

Helen Mirren once said: Before you argue with someone, ask yourself.......

Helen Mirren once said: Before you argue with someone, ask yourself, is that person even mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective. Because if not, there's absolutely no point. Not every argument is worth your energy. Sometimes, no matter how clearly you express yourself, the other person isn’t listening to understand—they’re listening to react. They’re stuck in their own perspective, unwilling to consider another viewpoint, and engaging with them only drains you. There’s a difference between a healthy discussion and a pointless debate. A conversation with someone who is open-minded, who values growth and understanding, can be enlightening—even if you don’t agree. But trying to reason with someone who refuses to see beyond their own beliefs? That’s like talking to a wall. No matter how much logic or truth you present, they will twist, deflect, or dismiss your words, not because you’re wrong, but because they’re unwilling to see another side. Maturity is...

Why BJP is opposing the Telangana caste census?

The BJP opposes the Telangana caste census primarily due to concerns about its political motivations, alleging that the Congress party is using it for electoral gain rather than genuine welfare of Backward Classes (BCs)  1 3 .  BJP leaders argue that the census distracts from Congress's unfulfilled promises to BCs and could exacerbate social divisions  2 4 .  Additionally, there are fears within the BJP that a detailed caste enumeration might reveal ongoing upper-caste dominance in politics and society, which could challenge their support base  7 8 .
