INDIAN ARMY: TRANSITION FROM EAST INDIA COMPANY ARMY TO NORTH INDIAN ARMY?

The Indian Army started off as an East India Company army drawn from Southern and Eastern India. It now seems to be mostly a North Indian army. If there are more battalions raised from other regions these ratios will look better. The whole of South India rates only 19 infantry battalions to one regiment - Madras. Punjab, Haryana and HP get over thrice that.

Martial races are outputs of a bogus theory. The economic benefits of having higher military recruitment are considerable.

Recruitment is directly related to the number of recruitment Centers in a region and the number of battalions being raised from a regional and caste group. This notion of martial races is totally bogus.

Recall who constituted the East India Company army which subdued all of India? It was mostly drawn from southern India and Bihar. All it took was good training and good leadership. Even Maharaja Ranjit Singh recognised the value of training and had European freebooters to train the Sikh armies.

JAI HIND: WHO DO WE OWE IT TO?

Though the origin of Jai Hind is usually ascribed to Chempakaraman Pillai in 1907, it didn’t have a popular usage till Netaji Bose made it the standard greeting of the INA.
